Hello i got in the pack with my new chainsaw a chain H30 but i also bought a reserve chain and it is H23 . I would like to know which chain is better and what kind of Oregon chain pass with this two (H30,H23). Bar is .325 1,3mm.

H30 is a light duty and H23 is medium duty. Both are safety chains, and both will cut wood, just don't use the H30 on dirty material.

And which Oregon chain is identical to the Husqvarna chain (H30,H23)?

Similar Question

I just picked up one of those vminnovations refurb Husqvarna 435's on sale, with the same narrow-kerf H30 chain. I've been studying that chart at Bailey's and wondering...

It looks like my only option for a direct replacement in narrow-kerf is the semi-chisel 20NK or K1NK.

Is it OK to put a standard kerf full chisel .325 chain on this 16" bar, like 20LP or 33LG, or do I need a wider bar?

Usually, yes - but exceptions has happened.

You got that wrong;

(1) H23/20LP(X) is not "safety chain", it is "yellow" chain.

(2) H23 is chisel and H30 semi chisel, so it is the H23 that should be kept away from dirty wood.

I have both chains for my little Shin 360,(re-fitted with a 377 clutch and sprocket for .325) and both have safety bumpers. The H30 is a very light narrow kerf chain that also has instructions to keep it away from heavy use and dirty conditions. In my personal opinion bumpers = safety chain. However, I feel box instructions are just guidelines and I have cut some dirty wood with both chains. The H30 didn't last long before needing a sharpening and the H23 held up much better.

Never mind, I realize you were answering the first half of the question (OK to go wider chain) not the "do I need a wider bar" half.

[Question was "do I need to get a wider bar for non-NK chain"...]

Usually, yes - but exceptions has happened.

If it's the same pitch/gauge, why would it matter? The opposite could cause problems, but why would wider be an issue, other than the bar being slightly thinner/weaker?

I have run narrow kerf chain on my standard .325, but I never tried to run standard .325 on my micro lite bar. My standard bars are cheap and my micro lite was expensive, so I didn't want to take the risk. I have put a standard chain on it just to see what it looked like and the tie straps hung over the side more than I was comfortable with. The driver width may be the same but it just doesn't ride the same. My experience usually doesn't match others in the forum, so take it as suggestion, not fact.

Well i think that Sapo_feo has right. I read on Husqvarna offical page about H23 and H30 and it says that H23 is ideal for professional users in demanding conditions and H30 not recommended for heavy duty work.Soo H23 is better choice ?!?

I'm curious how much narrower the Husky pixel bars are than their standard .325 bars?

Doesn't seem like they offer .050/.325 non-NK either.

I am running Oregon 20LPX(H23) on a Husqvarna NK bar. Except for some slight rail peening at the nose and tail it is working fine.

Do i have right about this ?---> For H23 and Oregon 20LPX stands the same Husqvarna sharpening/filing kit (for .325" Pitch Chainsaw Chain) but for H30 and Oregon 95VP i need another one (for .325" Pixel (Narrow Kerf) Chainsaw Chain) ? Do i need also change the file to 4.5 mm when the size of the cutting teeths are at half when using this Husqvarna filing kit?

Yes, about the different kits - but halv way back may be a bit early for changing the file size from 4.8 to 4.5 mm - just try!

The H30 may be a better choise on a sawv as small as the 435, as the H30 cuts a narrower kerf, and that takes less power. You have to try both to find out what works best for you.

Also, the H30 is semi chisel, and stands up a little better to "dirty" wood.
