Hi to start with im not an arborsist.

I did work underneath power lines clearing trees.
Now back than we used a rope if we had to get the trees them away from the power lines if they were close.
We would throw the throw line up and tie the rope onto the throw line and pull it through tie a knot.Hook it to the vehicle.cut cut.

So what i would like to know is does anyone know of anyone who uses this technique.
I have some difficult trees to cut and would like to get some similar kind of rope.I think if i remember it was around 1200lb or 1500lb breaking strain.
Does anyone know were i could get some rope that is similar?I don't what much stretch in the rope. For i r ember they didn't have much stretch.
I live in Australia aswel so a supplier here would be good. And im also after some throw line.

You want a rope with a working load limit of ~1500lbs not a breaking strength of 1500lbs.

IIRC the working load limit (WLL) is ~10% of the ultimate breaking strength.

Sherrill Tree is a good source for rope and the likes in the US I can't much speak for Australia.

lol...

so is he saying he pulls the trees away from the line to cut?
