How do you reinstall one of these things without breaking it? I''ve only put one back into a PM610 which was very simple.

All the recoil springs I've ever installed I started from the outside of the coil, hooking it into the housing first. Need three or four hands to do it right, but never let go of the spring until it is all the way in. You mind find it easier to hold the spring more or less stationary and rotate the housing with your free hand, making sure you NEVER let go of the spring.

Looking at my repair book, it doesn't seem any different from most other saws, old and new.

I've seen some models with the spring located in the pulley. Can't comment on those. Never replaced a broken spring in one.

OSA, Just so we know where we stand, I don't like you. There is something about you that rubs me the wrong way. You profess knowledge of things which you cannot be expert. God gave you two ears and one mouth, listen more than you speak and you will learn. Our problem may just be your lack of ability to express the subtle nuance of speach in the written word. At any rate, if you maintain your present course,my distain for you is not likely to vanish.

Mike, Touche. I however do not try to pass myself off as a litteratuer, where OSA does try to pass himself off as a chainsaw expert.

And to show what a stand-up guy I am, I will not go back and edit out my errors. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
