just heard mention of this rope on another site, apparently its on a par with the fly.
anyone got more info?

Nice~! Anyone heard of anyone who's been climbing on this stuff yet? Anyone know of a good supplier? Cost?

What is projected differances/adjustments to friction tail device(Velocity is smaller diameter and rounder line)?

Presently, finding Icicle in 3/8" Tenex, favorable in grip/release powerband of it's loading on a Yellow Jacket 1/2" host lifeline.

I checked it out...seemed like plain old polyester to me. Coated with some sort of wax, but it's just polyester none-the-less.

This new 1/2" dbl. braid seems pretty slick to me. After all it is small in dia., easily spliced and lighter. Alot like the fly but without the nasty splice.
I was shown this rope at TCIA by Ken Palmer and really liked the lay. The splice is a Class I double braid splice so it is real clean.
Nick arent all ropes unless they are the exotic ones like Vectran, polyester?
I was told by my supplier today that it will be showcased in Detroit but not sold until then. I'll check with samson tomorrow.

Sean,
Does the smiley face mean the meds are kicking in, or does it mean that you have this rope in stock? :) I guess I'll call and find out
Frans

Frans, don't forget nylon (or hemp!). There are other cheaper plastics that wouldn't be considered exotic/high-mod also (polypropylene).

The smiley face meant that I know we have the Velocity rope, but wasn't sure it was for sale yet. I checked this morning and it is.

We currently have 200' and 600' lengths in stock, available for order. The 120' and 150' lengths will be available starting at the Pittsburgh ISA show.

I am working on setting up the ropes online. Or you can call us at 1-800-525-8873. There isn't really any more info available other than what you've already read here and on Samson's site.

Sherrill just sold me a short hank of the velocity and should be here in a couple three days.
I'll work it and report...

Yesterday I got a new 120' hank of good, ole High-Vee from Sherrill. My Fly has just been downgraded.

I trimmed three live oaks today, no hang-ups whatsoever. My Fly woulda snagged on every other piece of brush it touched. :(

I've missed that orange n white rope.:blob2:

Actually, the gripping part of it wasn't what bugged me. It was the amazing ability of it to tie itself in a knot, or hook any little twig on the ground.

I couldn't believe it. It constantly amazed/pissed me off.

Not any more.:)
