I give mine a "blow off" with compressed air, works fine.I have gotten quite a few, like Bill, that have problems from build up of gunk in the air filter etc.The recent rebuild of an 038 I did,was a result of dust, that infiltrated the saw. It's a pretty good indication,on a tear down, when the bearings are coked[ phyrolited carbon],that the saw has been ran ,a long time with a clogged filter, and infiltration of dust.I might add a little notation here:Keeping a sharp chain not only lets the saw cut with less power but also cuts down on the amount of little fine dust that could be injested into the engine, which is a slow death for it.
