hey yall
can any one tell me how to get the saw dust to stop packng in my bars around my oiler and into the oiler in the saw
its happening in my stihl 361 and in my husky 445
right now it seems that im having to clean them after every carving i do
and after about 3 mill cuts (4- 5 foot cuts)
any one no why this is happening or how to stop it ??

I guess there is a bunch of different things it could be. The oil, wood, chain, oil filter. Are they oiling like it used to?

Have you tried turning the oiler up.

I find that some of the oiler holes are pretty small and can benefit from drilling them just a little bigger.

My 310 quit oiling and the gear behind the clutch was the problem.

there oiling great till the sawdust clogs them
never had this issue before
oilers are wide openi thought it was just the cannon carving bars
but then i put my mill back on my 361 and it is still doing it
im sure that i have ruled out the bar and chains as i have used 6 chains and 4 different bars all with the same result :msp_huh:

Man ya got me. Something is letting the chips/dust build up at the oil port. Maybe too much oil clogging up the works? I expect you've pulled the cover and inspected nothing was jammed in there before the clutch letting it pile up? Other than that I'm at a loss.

no nothing jammed any where in fact i just cleaned the whole area to perfection tomarrow im going to make a few cuts and check and repeat to see if i find something if i donnt find somthing ill recheck the oiler and such

I put a bigger rim on my 460 then it started doing the packing bar . i think chain speed packed cover tight ,a big cover helped but changing rim back to a 7 got the chain down tighter at the leading end of the bar . if ya pull the clutch cover slowly and look close if thats your problem you will see it .

got it finaly

hey yall i figured it there were 2 difernt problems 2 of the bars had burrs on them from the chain wearing it and me not dressing the part thats behind the cover. the other problem was my new bar i bought to mill with had a burr
on the cut out that slides over the bar studs both of these problems made the bar sit away from the power head there for letting sawdust pack behind the bar
and into the oiler
thanks for the help every one
