This past spring Dan Henry was nice enough to invite the entire world to his house for a weekend of chainsaw fun. Several members said they would be there then didn't show. Recently there has been a lot of behind the scenes trash talk and fighting. This is unfortunate, anyone who attended Dan's gathering had fun. I'm sure the bickering is a big part of the reason there hasn't been any word of when we might gather again. I'd invite y'all here but there's only a 3rd of an acre. It sure would be nice to get together again, I'll cook.

Eric, What I like about your boiler is the fact that the cookies from saw testing don't go to waste, you'll burn 'em for heat. I'll have to see how long a drive it is to Daves from here, your house was 495 miles.

edit: I just looked at yahoo maps, Luther ,Michigan is 805 miles away, 12hr drive might be a little too far.

Sedanman i think there is a chance that there will be a get together very close to you soon , they are just trying to figure everything out

Hey fella's, Your next get together you should have a chainsaw Toss. A quick suggestion, use Woodjunkie's RedJap 5000 and see who can throw it the farest! Spectators would have more fun watching that, than watching any of your chainsaws race. Remember, just a suggestion.

joelamb,
What do you sell at your shop?
Going to Louisville Expo?
Going to GIE?
Are you in Greenville, TN?
When I'm traveling down there, maybe we'll get a chance to meet at a show or your OPE shop.
Might be nice to meet another AS member.

Only if you are on the other end catching it!!!:D

May I attend

I know i'm new to the site and all and especially new to climbing. I was just wondering if there are going to be any New York or somewhat near by get togethers if anybody would object to home made buffalo wings that will make your ass breathe fire the day after. talk to you soon.

In general if there is a get together it is an open affair and all are welcome. The thing to remember is that the main purpose of these events is NOT competition but fun and fellowship. If anyone were going to one of these events to "prove something" my advise would be to stay the f#@K home.

Ken, Good to know. One question, What brand diesel? I'm a DODGE man myself but won't hold a powerstroke or duramax against you. If we ride together we'll take my truck though so there won't be any breakdowns (unless you have a nicer DODGE than I do).

Gentle ribbing not to be taken as an assault. All in fun.

ah hem........97 dodge baby.........jannetty racing in ct did the trans...4in exhaust and cam plate in the injector pump. this baby hauls...... oh it's just getting broken in at 210,000 mi.

my truck is pretty full of saw dust so yours is probably cleaner.

Hi kftree, I also have a 97 diesel 2500 with 180,000 miles. What were the costs of the mods and do you get better economy?
Also, my front axle has a problem engaging in 4x4 and pops out. Could this be the vacuum thing that is mounted on the axle?

Gypo Logger

the last of the 12 valve's..........i'd have to check my bill but if i rememmber correct it was around 4800.00. for the transmission with a mag tech extra deep al pan, rear shocks (bilstein), 4in exhaust turbo back, instal a tab kit for the kdp pin, adjust valves, cam plate for the injector pump and a cold air kit.

my fuel economy pretty much stayed the same. above 70mph the exhaust has a definite roar to it. with the cold air kit you really hear the turbo spool up. the power gain is huge and this was only a stage 1 set up. it's like driving a different truck now, it fun driving it again.

if it was my only vehicle and i used it for family trips i think the exhaust change would be pretty annoying. but since it's mainly used as a work truck and daily commuter for my self i like it.

but you need stacks up through the bed with no muffler.

as far as the front diff i can't really answer that, that vacume switch just slides a fork/ sleeve .

do you know about the turbo diesel register? it's worth the member ship fee for sure. there are guys on the message boards there that really know their stuff and could help you out with the front diff problem.

they could also get your dodge running 11 second 1/4's

I also have one of the log stands made by the master, its rock solid. The nice part about is that I don't have to bend over when I use it. Some days my back doesn't bend as good as it used to and I don't have to bend over with this one.

Thanks for the stand, it gets used a lot and I do appreciate it.

Did you have the fish painted on your bar yet. LOL

Nope no Jap crap yet need to sell off something first. I hear tell that my local Dolmar- Redmax dealer has them in stock and even has sent some to be ported maybe I will just buy one from him that way I will have the best, Will the redmax 5000 become the next 7900?

"Will the redmax 5000 become the next 7900?"

That's a good question. First off its JapCrap, so it may never sell very well. I don't think they take to porting very well. LOL

I figures that if I cut some good deals to a few of our credible AS members, it may help sales.

They probably wont take off very good until a few of the other builders say that they run strong and that they are built well.
That seems to be what happened with the 346 and the 7900, why should the 5000 be any different. Maybe I should use some of my old port timing figures on these saws and see if I cant make it run as slow as your 346.
