I know next to nothing about saws and engines in general but I would appreciate any help I can get. My dad just gave me his Echo 3450.

When we go to start it it will not stay running unless the choke is partially out.

Is this an adjustment to the low or idle screws on the carb or something that I should take to the shop.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give?

you already know it is fuel related

Next question for yourself. Do you think you can take a carb apart and clean it? Might want to replace the fuel filter in the tank. And check all of the fuel lines for cracks. If you do not feel up to it. Just take it to a shop.

Oh I know I know I will not be taking the carb apart. Supposedly my dad just had the carb rebuilt. If it can not be adjusted with the screws I will need to take it in.

Good call don't screw up what could be a a good saw. Sounds like an idle problem but I am not sure try turning the low idle screw just a little, like a quater turn or so if that dosen't fix it and you have check the fuel lines and system. Off to the dealer you go. I have an old guy dealer here in town that I like becuase he will replace parts instead of saying lets just sell you a new saw.
