Stihl 026, owner put gas with out oil in saw. Stuck, is it worth 25.00? Advertised it in paper

Stuck

Would this usually get the crank and rod?
I can imagine the piston might stick before any bearings fry.
Open it up and see what happened.

Sorry guys, I got there first. I managed to haggle him down to $24.50.

Jeez, I hope I haven't bought a lemon.

Guy even got me a sweet deal on shipping. His brother in law can get it to my door here in the UK for $450 plus handling charges, packing, administration, insurance, export tax, import tax, UK handling, UK fondling, tax tax and to your door tax. He's even said he'll reduce his usual cut to just 25% commission of everything + tax.

I recon I'm gonna get that baby for less that $2000 of your American. It's only Monopoly money anyway isn't it?

I have freed up at least 3 saws that the piston stuck and resumed using them. 1 stihl 028 and 1 034 both run on straight gas. The 034 was run by me another 5 to 7 years and sold , the 028 belonged to a freind and hasn't been used a lot yet as it was last spring. If you manage not to sell it try wd40 or another fine lubricant sprayed liberally in the cylinder through the spark plug hole let it settle a while then remove the starter cover and try wiggling the fly wheel back and forth to free it .If your successful mix some fuel 16 to 1 and try it out. It may or may not run ok. On my 034 I ended up using 25 to 1 which I use with most of my saws. I couldn't notice any power loss. The 028 was down some on compression but seemed decent with 16 to 1. Make sure your carb is adjusted properly when switching mixes. If you don't use this info mabe someone else can.

go

Start driving!!!You should be there in time for coffee!!!

Seriously, good luck Jack. Sounds like a nice deal if you can get it. I've bought a piston ring that cost nearly as much as that!

Stihl 026

At day break called seller about saw. Still had the saw. Sold.
The saw was a good buy. Piston is scared up. The piston was not stuck. Will not run. One owner saw, purchased in 1990

JR

well done

With the plethora of knowledge here (encyclopedia is pretty accurate) you should be able to

1) get the saw running at the expense (excuse me, investment) of a few $$
2) part the saw out (I don't like saying that, it's just not right).

Good luck

Good Advice On Stihl 026

The advice from the members to buy the saw paid off. I am going to repair the saw also on the advice to get it runing.

Will need piston and rings. What Stihl parts, other than a 026 will work Will parts from a 024 or 025 work?

Thank's
