I am going to buy a grinder, what do the "experts" recommend? where online should I buy?

I am leaning towards stihl or silvey. I will be sharpening .325, 3/8 and .404, both square and round chains. I have 60 -70 chains
for all my saws.
thanks.

Steve here... I would spend the money on the Silvey Swing Arm, I have a catalog from Madsens and I think they where on sale for $575. It works just like the old Simington 450 swingarm I have. I don't think you'll have much luck square grinding .325, stone hits the back of the tie strap, unless you really make the stone thin.

Give Jeff a call

If you're looking to spend less and still get a good grinder, call Jeff Sikkema at S&S Saw Shop or click below. He's a member here and has a great grinder for sale. The MAXX Professonal Grinder Model 13151. I have one and love it. It has many great features. He also sells bars, chains and accessories. Jeff's a great guy and gives the best service avaliable. Good luck. Dave

If you are talking both round ground and square ground I think you will need 2 grinders so you dont have to muck up your square grind setup every time you switch back and forth.

I agree I have a MAXX grinder. It is better to use than a oregon 511, and Jeff is a great guy to talk to!!!
