burn bay

Hey Mike, Sorry ya got burned! Your not alone, I bought more than a few saws and they weren't what I expected. Even after asking all of the right questions sometimes the dishonest seller can do the old David Copperfield magic and make it look great. On the other hand. I have bought saws better then I expected through individuals on e-bay. The add for the saw to me has a lot to do with it If they have fourty pages of crape about there little e-bay busness I move on!! I have no advise other than ask questions demand more photo's and if it looks fishy or they don't respnd there is your answer. Good luck!!!!! The Hoosier

Sharpen your chain it's a jungle out there!!!!!!

mike i kinda believe u might be able to get
u money back.... if the guys is smart in buisiness ,that is. good luck

I don't know about ebay...

I've educated myself a little about what stuff is worth, and I'll bid that amount. I haven't won an auction in about 6 months:D.

I was jabbering with the owner of a new pawn/consignment joint a week or two ago, kinda laughing at him for asking $75 for a tired-looking McC timber-dog (looks like a 610); he had me when he asked me if I had seen any sell for less on Ebay. If certain classes of merchandise doesn't move within 30 days at his price, onto ebay it goes.

Some kinds of collectables aren't even worth displaying, they go right to the ether!

I did not buy anything from this seller. Just saw his fishy add (175# compression) and knew better.

The SXl I bought that was toast; I ended up using to patch a few other ones back together. I bought that from another bozo on ebay.

I picked up a like new mac super 10-10 at the flea for $10 last week. Just needs a muffler & some TLC

Maybee I should list it for $200 starting bid :D :D :D

Hey guys- it is quite possible that little Homelite DOES have 175 psi of compression, if the rings are rusty and the cylinder wall is coated with carmelized fuel. I've pulled saws out of the junk pile that were amazingly tough to pull over but after they were cleaned up and fresh fuel ran through them, the compression would drop by about 50%.

eBay is the saw JUNKYARD

Thanks Mike

You told the truth and about the worlds largest saw junkyard I have purchased several saws on ebay none of then were as good or ready to use as seller said, they were. I purchased a husky with 72" bar. Bar has never arrived. saw was only three years old like new ___It was seven years old----checked with Husky company. It has been two years now am still looking for 72"bar. Seller feedback was perfect all postive

Still bidding on saws on ebay. I enjoy the auction very much. I guess you could say I like to buy junk

File a fraud claim against these a**holes. I got most of my money back, got a saw to hang from the rafters and got a bogus a** seller banned from e-bay to boot. :blob2:

Here's my 066 as purchased on ebay - " in good condition"

Any buddy else had one of these?

Just received the following email after bidding on an ms200T earlier today. Anyone else had a similar solicitation?

"Good Day,
Please excuse that i`m contacting you , but i have seen that you are
interesed in purchasing a Stihl 14" MS200T Chainsaw "Inthe box .
I have one and i don`t know how to sell it more faster because i
need some cash money soon for a new investment that i want to make.
If u are interesed to take the product from me i will wait for your
mail
I am expecting your email at : [email protected]

Thanks and HavE A NicE DaY !!!!!"

I`ve had a few other contacts apparently generated by my activity on eBay recently that looked more legit, but I`ve got to wonder. You`re really hanging in the breeze if you decide to deal with any of these people because you don`t even have the protection that eBay offers to it`s participants.

Aside from the foibles of a few people who have attempted to transact with me outside ebay based on my ebay activity, my saw purchases there have all been ok. Only one time did I think that a seller misrepresented a saw and he immediately made it right when I contacted him. Am I just lucky or have I picked better auctions to date?

just like the SXL I bought that was listed as having 130#

Soon as I got it, I checked it & got 60#, pulled the muffler & the rings were toast.

Why can't people be honest.

Those 150's didnt make 175# brand new

Like you'd take the time to compression test it but not stuff some gas in to see if it runs? Puh-lease!

ebay

The only-and probably last saw I bought on ebay was an 066, that needed a bottom end rebuild. The seller said it didn't have any issues that he knew of. -Yeah right! The flywheel-side bearing was so far gone that the flywheel rubbed the coil on every revolution.

There's hardly any good deals there anyway. You're better off to go hunting at the flea markets.

At least at the fleas you can put your hands on it, look it over, and decide for yourself what condition it's in before you buy it.

Man, you guys are scaring me. I've had such good lucK on ebay. Bought a brand new 372XP for $530 w/20" bar, brand new 046 with 25" bar for just over $500, a Craftsman Solo 651SP for under $250, a really nice hardly used 262XP for little over $250, brand new Echo CS-670 for $380, a used Dolmar ps-540 for $190 with shipping (later realized it had never cut wood but had gas and oil in it). Problem is I just bought a used (appears very little) O26 Pro for $215 but have not had contact with the seller in three days. I hope my lucK is'nt turning.

Ironic that I have been looking at saws on ebay for that special deal but I am getting a "subtle vibe" from reading this thread that I should run away. AT least this was posted before I made an expensive mistake! Think I will stick with new.

I have gotten some very good saws on ebay.

Most of them did not run, and just needed a carb kit at the most.

I would rather buy a 20 year old non running saw, that needs a carb kit & fuel line, maybee a new sprocket & chain & a little TLC, than a worn out piece of junk that looks like new, but has been abused.

I bought an old Homelite SXL & SEZ that I bet had not cut a 1/2 cord of wood yet. i paid $35 for the SXL & around $65 for the SEZ

Gave them both the "Once over" & they look & run like new.

On the other hand, I have gotten junk before (like my other SXL) Got my money back about 2/3 of the time.
