I won this trimmer in the winter and while even with the U.S exchange rate I still saved a few hundred at a time when cash is scarce. The trimmer paid for itself quickly in the springtime, so yes good deals can be found.

And this 066 while it had its problems still saved me 600 CDN over a new one.
The saw was filthy and had a crap piston, cracked air cover, chain cover, and engraving on the handle base which really pissed me off-ok so I like my equipment to run and look excellent. Anyone have some extra 066 parts they care to part with?

I recently bought a Husky 394 on ebay out of BC Canada. Saw arrived after one week with great packaging. It was only two years old, and still had original stickers on it, including the bottom. After I put the bar and chain on it I dropped it off at my saw mechanic for the afternoon. When I went back to get it he couldn't beleive the deal I got. It only cost me $450.00 plus shipping. Came with 28" Cannon bar. So you can get good deals, just have to be lucky I guess. See ya

Howdy neighbor, and welcome to the site. Yep, you can get good deals, but stay away from those "DEAL" bar and chains... they usually are seconds, and won't cut worth a crap until you re-grind them.

First good drubbing.

Looks like I`m finally getting screwed over by an eBayer on a saw. I won the auction on the John Deere CS-81 that a few of you other guys might have been bidding on. By the time I paid for the saw and shipping the total was $385, which the seller promptly claimed via PayPal, after giving me some line about shipping asap via FedEx. That`s the last I`ve heard from him and he will not answer email. Tried the eBay user contact info route and the guy has bogus info posted there. The guy had predominately good feedback and he is also PayPal verified, we`ll see if that helps find him. I`m not giving up on this because I`m a spiteful pr!ck at times and this is one of them, LOL.

BTW, the seller is known as juanjnunez.

Hi Silverblue, thanks for the advice. When I tried to file a fraud report I was made aware that you cannot do so via eBay until 30 days have elapsed but then it must be done before 60 days since the auction ended have passed. Almost seems like they are creating a small window by design when you consider how these things can drag out just by virtue of the distances which can be involved. Now I must remember to go back in about 20 days and take care of that loose end.

Hey Russ-

If the seller is a verified Paypal user you can file a non-reciept claim through them and they will instantly refund your money, and the Paypal will go after them. The only time they don't do instant refunds is when a person is a non-verified user. You can also file the calim with E-bay and get some money back that way later on. It's in E-bay's documentation that it's legal for a buyer who has been ripped off to file claims through both Paypal and E-bay.

Hi Jacob, thanks for sharing that thought with me but unfortunately I have a few excerpts taken directly from PayPal correspondence that refute that notion. Read as follows:

"Reason for Dispute:
Non Receipt
Date of Complaint:
Aug 1, 2003
Status:
Waiting For Seller's Response
Status Details:
We have notified the seller of your complaint.

The seller has 10 days to respond to our inquiries. We have asked the seller to resolve this complaint in one of 3 ways:
Provide you a full refund for the amount of the disputed transaction
Provide tracking information that proves delivery to your Confirmed Address
Provide proof of a previously issued refund
If the seller has not responded to our inquires by Aug 11, 2003, we will attempt to recover the full amount of the disputed transaction. Please allow at least 30 days from the date you filed your complaint for completion of this process. If we are unable to recover the full amount, we will take action against the seller's account until the complaint has been resolved.

No further action is required of you at this time. You will receive an email notification when this case has been resolved. In addition, you can always return to this page to check this complaint's status. "

Really makes me have a warm fuzzy feeling toward PayPal and all the crap they spew about being verified. More crap is the way that they are always claiming that you can instantly pay someone if you are verified. I`m currently waiting `til August 6th for funds to clear on a non-eBay transaction between two verified PayPal members, myself and another gentleman. Oh well, it`s not going to change my life.

The only way you get an instant refund through Paypal is if the seller decides to give it to you or you take the insurance. Even then I don't think you will get all your money. So as a buyer on Ebay, I only pay with a charge card, that way when I recieve an item that is less than represented, I'm holding the trump cards and am guaranteed satisfaction.
As a seller, I'll take paypal, but not from the charge card. If you have a buyer cancel his/her credit card payment, they have your stuff and their money back and then akin to kicking a man when they are down, Paypal hits you with a chargeback fee. F...that!

I was under the impresson that credit cards do offer buyer's protection if the item was purchased out of state or more than fifty miles from home. Has anyone disputed a credit card purchase online?

Oh man, the guys who bid on that are on crack.

Is that some rare model I'm not aware of, or just another generic Tecsumseh-powered saw?

Take a look at the buyer's feedback, all + but he's only bought things, never sold. Maybe he's got a shopping addiction or could be he knows something no one else does. Or maybe he just wanted it and money's not a concern.
