I have a schoolmarm on a bald cypress tree. Wondering whether to cut it off completely, trim it back to the length of the other branches, or leave it. I just worry that it's competing for light with the branches that it has grown up amongst. Expert help would be appreciated. thanks!

I'm no expert, but I think I would pick the best one and leave it, then start cutting the other side down in stages over time. You want to find a nice lateral to end up at so the two side stop competing with each other for dominance That is one option anyway.

Thanks for the help. I cut it off and will cut the other side up over time. Atleast the schoolmarm isn't up in the middle of the tree causing problems.
