Score!!!!!!

Just scored some easy wood. There's an airport about 10 miles from me, my father-in law works right next to the place. He noticed them clearing out a big woods in the back.Stopped over on his lunch break, kissed some @$$, and scored big time. They are even going to put them into manageable piles for us. Dad called a little bit ago, said when he drove buy they already had like 6 piles with about 20 trees in each, and still had a little bit more to clear out. Man I can't wait till this weekend.

That sounds great. Did he say what kind of wood it is and how big they were? The main thing is that you're getting it though.

Don't have a clue. Wood is wood to me. I can't be real picky about what I cut, due to the 4 houses that I supply wood for. Both grandparents, myself, and the father-in laws shop where we have a side business we do at nights and weekends, building dog boxes and kennels.

Of course it depends on the particular locale, but if its anything like where I've been in western PA and eastern OH, there should be some nice hardwoods in the mix. I've been cutting treetops from a timber harvest that took many species but no hickory, but the remnants of hurricane Ike left me a nice shagbark for the BBQ. :blob2:

I told that to a local excavator. He said he'd bring me all the trees off a lot he was clearing. The dump trucks started showing up, and just kept coming. I am knee deep in poplar and ash, little bit of oak. Thankful for it all, and it will burn just fine....
