@singinwoodwackr Looks like you visited my garage! I’ve got a white top awaiting service from one of my dad’s late best friends.
I have several winter projects already...reassemble the 268, 350 and Stihl 031...all in boxes; clean up and rebuild a 44 and the new 61; go through the 372...needs at least rings and a muffler...
2100 and 288 will be her next week.
🤣🤣

I have some oak to cut up so may take the 390 to play with then...next week. Will take the 36 off and throw on a 28".
Good times :D

Dang...gonna look for that box now, lol
Yeah... nearly 40 years later they are going for 3 times what I paid and I've had a lifetime of use out of them... Follows well from one of my father's lines,
'It's not what you pay for something it's what it costs you." Did I mention I have a mid-80s Python? 😉

Can't comment on the Weaver, but I have 4 Crossfire scopes on my firearms and I'm very happy with them (other than the fact that you often can't hear the adjustment clicks). Two of them have the 40 mm objective Lense, and 2 have the 50 mm (for more brightness). Two are on centerfire rifles, one is on my 870 rifled slug barrel, and one is on my Muzzleloader.

I have put several of my old scopes from the centerfire rifles on 22s and they all work just fine.
Ended up ordering the Vortex Crossfire II, sight unseen. Probably more positive reviews for that model than anything in it's class and it sounds like Vortex has top notch customer service. I'll report back when she's mounted.

I REALLY like my PJ trailer it just pulls so nice! But it just beats the fenders up, to load/haul logs with it, so today I set it up for hauling logs,

This really didn't cost me much of anything as I sawed out all the lumber with my BSM. Here's a closer view,

I'm going to make a couple small changes to it later, when I have more time.

Scrounged some Craigslist stuff this afternoon. Really just went for the magnifying lamp, but picked a few other items too.
The lamp and stand also included 2 extra bulbs. 20230818_194114.jpg
A drill and accessories with ammo can. I dig the art deco drill, but it's probably more a wall hanger than something that will get used.

And a toolbox with wrenches and miscellaneous.

Just to keep it chainsaw related there is even a scrench. Didn't really *need* anything, but a couple items made the whole deal worth it.

Wrote this earlier but forgot to hit "post".

Several of my old ones had (I think) 32 mm objective lenses, and they are fine on most 22s, although 2.5 - 7 is about perfect for a 22. (My grandsons are using them).

On my 22s one has a 4X and one a 2.5 - 7. At 25 yds you don't want 7, but at 50 yds it is nicer than 4.

I consider 22s 50 yd guns, as you may be able to hit woodchucks at 100 yds, but it generally will not kill them cleanly past 50 yds. I like to KNOW I did not miss (they do not make it back to their hole).

Unfortunately, with all the coyotes, there are not many places to hunt chucks anymore. (Fewer farms and more development also contribute to this problem).

On the scope subject... I'm a super cheap arse when it comes to scopes. Too many decently priced options to need to spend big bucks. My 22mag has this cheap Tasco 3-9x40mm scope on it that a friend said was junk. It's my main dirt rat/tree rat/flying rat gun. Hasn't ever lost zero and is plenty clear zoomed in for 100 yard shots in the evening. Have a Vortex Crossfire on my 458 socom, it's been good although not as nice as the althlon scopes I've recently been getting. I have a few nikon scopes as well that are really nice, but not worth what I've paid for them. Only scope I've ever had issues with is a Simmons that was in the mosin nagant. What a pos. Stupid thing moved around from day one, sent it back a few times then ended up buying this cheap pinty brand scope off Amazon for it. Couldn't get better then a 2" @100 yard group. Swapped a known good 3-9x40 nikon on it with the same results. Put the Amazon scope back on it and gave it to my dad. Hated that gun from the first time I shot it, even after having it sporterized, synthetic stock, bedded and floated barrel and added a Timiney drop in trigger group it still shot like crap. Have several other Bushnell scopes that have been decent too.
