When I built my splitter I used a 4 foot long cylinder that was readily available for cheap money. The longest logs that I can split with it is 26". That was what I used to burn in my previous Nashua stove.

thats why I have a gap between the wedge and push plate. If the piece fits between them, it will fit in the furnace. Couldn't have gone with a longer stroke, unless I cut it down. The beam is used was just long enough for the cylinder thats on it. Learned a lot building this one, and will be making quite a few changes on the next one.

I got out to try out the newly rebuilt 350 chainsaw. It does cut stronger than my other. 350. I had a problem with constant stalling after letting off the throttle. I kept cranking up the idle and it kept stalling. Turned out to be that the idle screw was really loose. When cutting the idle screw was backing out. Off to the garage I went to fix that issue. The threads looked like they had Loctite on them previously. I took down this 16 inch Ash with it today.

I welded two stops on my I beam to stop my pusher from hitting the fixed wedge rather than shorten up the piston.

$80.00 here to get a deer processed and the place I use does a GREAT job.

I used to do all my own processing, moose, caribou, bear, deer ect.. Even Dall sheep, but I just got tired of doing all the work and started having it done!

I do still have a decent sized grinder ect., and I still use the grinder from time to time, in fact I ground some pork a couple days ago.

I warned my wife, before we got married, that I go upstate hunting every opening WE, but it is always either on or near her birthday, so I catch lots of flack just the same ... but I go!

He sure does!! More than once we all have yelled happy birthday so she would hear us when he is on the phone with her

My brother in-law likes his back straps for steak and everything else ground. I’ll bring the meat broken down off the bone and trimmed of as much silver skin as I can. These fellas will grind and vacuum seal it for free for me.

End of the season I drop off two cases of Modelo for his workers


As for my deer, I have him do them up “standard” on the first deer and the next deer gets made into nifty cuts and sausages. His pepperoni is phenomenal.

Let me interject some reality! Every year she tries to make him feel guilty about going up on (or near) hear birthday, and becomes inflexible about celebrating it in advance, but he told her he would be doing this before they got married, so he goes up to the cabin every year anyway.

Hey, we only get just so many hunting seasons in a lifetime, and you are never really sure when they will end. Enjoy them!

I'm frustrated that I can' still cover the ground like I used to, but I get out there anyway.

I've gotten my wife flowers twice. Once when I was down in Philly. A street bum was selling red long stem roses. $20.00 a dozen. Nicest roses I've seen in my life. Got her a dozen. She pitched a fit I got them off a street bum. Tossed them in the trash.
The second time, I was on the road. working just outside of Pittsburgh, on valentines day. Couldn't come back till the job was finished. So I sent her flowers to her work. For whatever reason, she thought they were from her ex, since I didn't have "from Sean" on the card and trashed them.
That was the last time I got her flowers.

My wife of 29 years that went to be with Jesus last year gave me a boatload of grief when i brought home flowers for her early on. Ok, no more flowers. The first few years I would buy her a present for Christmas, birthday and anniversary. She returned all but one of them. The only one she didn't return was a piece made out of stained glass. It had a bright red cross in the middle of a blue Jewish star. It didn't get returned, but the shopped burned to the ground the day after i picked it up. They made candles also and evidently the vat caught on fire in the middle of the night. No I didn't do it! My wife was a born again Jew if you are wondering why I hade it made.

Someone was asking about train pictures, and I guess I've been sluffing...

Not a picture but 1 of the few remaining Electro Motive SD38's left on the BNSF roster wandered through this past weekend. BNSF 1564 was originally built for the Frisco as SLSF 299 in the late 70's just before BN acquired Frisco in 1980. It is now a RCL (remote control locomotive) unit that was largely used in yard service as a "mother" unit coupled up to a TEBC-6 "slug" unit. One of these days I'll have to tell about the Utah Railway MK50-3/MK5000's I saw out in Kansas a few years ago on vacation.
