Self advancing Blake's hitch keeps jamming after 10 or so feet?

To self advance a VT hitch, do I need to buy the DMM hitch climber or will my current micro pulley suffice?

You can use your pulley....you just clip the working in on one biner and your pulley setup on a second one. If its a fixed pulley you can squeeze your termination knot between the cheeks and run the system off a single biner.

Sorry the other set up didn't work out so well...I think you'll be better of with a closed system though, split tail is becoming a dated system.

Thanks for your help. I'm still going to buy a few other prussik cords to see if I can the blake to work.

I think I figured out why the blake was jamming; it's because I didn't have a rope bridge. When you use the D rings on the leg straps, after a pull, the standing end has a tendency to elevate a few inches above the running end, which causes the micro pulley to maintain constant pressure against the hitch before and after the pull. When I attached a rope bridge (really a quick link), the standing and running end of the saddle maintained alignment which caused the micro pulley to drop an inch or two after a pull. That inch or two drop apparently gives the hitch enough breathing room to not jam.
