Does anyone out there have a self propelled track chipper such as the Vermeer BC1400TX, I'm looking at upgrading to a machine like that for my fuel reduction work. I just wish that machine had a loader on it. It would be nice to have something that size. Some of the machines I have seen out there like the Bandit 1900 are so big and heavy! I'm sure they are amazing machines but I cant transport a 30,000 lbs + machine. Something in the 12"-14" size, self propelled, with a loader that weighs under 16,000 lbs. would be a great machine for me. Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks a bunch.

They make brush hog type cutters that go on the front of loaders/dozers. On a larger loader they will take out 10-12" diameter trees. Depending on vegetation density larger units can do about an acre an hour in level terrain. There are units that go from bob cat size and up.

Yea, Im familar with mulching heads but thats not what I'm looking for. Thanks for your comments though.

We use the bandit 1890's with a winch and love them. We load them with a bobcat t320 or a kobelco 80 or by hand

How about a 1400 track Bandit with a loader. If you look around you might be able to find one used pretty cheap.

Thanks for the info. John. I didnt see that chipper on machinery trader.

ASD, that is a sweet chipper! We dont have a Bandit Dealer anywhere close to me but the big Vermeer outfit is only about 70 miles away, that is the main reason I wondered about their track machine. I sure like the looks of your 1890 though. I'm gonna do some more research on those. Do you know if bandit has a loader option available on a machine that size? It seems that would be really nice out in the woods, that way my T300 could stay busy just shearing the trees, and the chipper could come along behind with one guy and load and chip. I sappose the winch would work for the big stuff, but I think having a loader mounted on the chipper would be a back and time saver allthough I have never used one...

You can get a loader on any of bandits chippers but the problem is that they are heavy (the loaders) and you will have to go to steel tracks as the rubber will not hold the weight. One of our competitors has a Vermeer track 1400 and they like it but it is in the shop all the time as all the electric gizmo's on it keep breaking. The are talking to my bandit dealer as i type.

Thats good to know. Thanks! Whats the price range on one of the bandits like yours. I know they want around 80k for the vermeer track machine I found.

Good friend of mine has a big rubber tracked Morbark Hurricane 4sale at 45K

That's like an 18 inch monster with an enclosed cab, very trick.

Tracked Chipppers

Those Bandits do look sweet, for us though we work in a little bit tighter areas so we fabbed up rubber tracks for our "12 Vermeer BC1000. For pics check out our Website under Equipment Pics. $25000 for a new Chipper and $10,000 for the Installed tracks. Cheers

Thanks ASD for the price idea, I figured they would be well over 100k.

Jomoco, I would be interested in a email or contact information for your friend that that has the rubber track hurricane. You can email me at [email protected]
Thanks!

Treecycle, I'll check out your website. I allready have a BC1000XL myself and have often wondered and wished I could just put tracks on it. Cool to know someone has done it. Ill be in touch!

Did you do the tracks your self or have it done? What unit did you use for the tracks?

For our chipper undercarriage, I found a used excavator for sale. Traded the upper half to a Fab shop who was going to mount it on the back of a trailer and for the trade mounted the tracks on the chipper. The hydraulics that run the tracks come right off the cummins motor for a pretty clean set-up. I thought why drag the brush to the chipper if you can drive the chipper to the brush.
