Hey guys , really need some help cuz this has me stumped. I have a 1999 woodchuck wc17 chipper . I've had it it about 2 years now and it runs great. Problem is it keeps blowing out clutches. I've replaced the clutch about 3 times within 2 years. I spoke with a tech at Altec last time and he had me check the main pulley shaft and it turned out that it was grooved out and needed replacing. I did replace it and put new clutch kit in about 6 months ago and it just went out on me again. This thing has been running great and this really has me stumped.

Do you all have any ideas that might help or any experience with this problem ?

Is the engine cockeyed and not in alignment? Have you run a straight edge from the engine sheave to the drum sheave? Are you engaging and dis-engaging the clutch properly? Proper engagement would be to bump the clutch in until the disc meets the rpm's of the engine at which time you engage it. Always dis-engage at an idle. These are the only things I can think of that might be causing the failures.

Hope this helps!
