sharpening

I have to assume that most of us sharpen our own chains. I was curious to know how many of you guys use some kind of file guide, or if you just freehand it. I am a freehander myself. I skeptically bought one of those stump vises from the bailys catalog, and I gotta give it a thumbs up.

i tried the stump vice, not worth the money

I usually make a cut in the corner of a stump with the saw a inch deep and set on the ground with the saw handle in my crotch and file away
