I am looking to advance my tree removal to the climbing stage and was wondering if anyone had any info on this Sherrill saddle. I cant see to find it anywhere on line..maybe because of its age i am not sure but i just want to make sure that it will be a half decent saddle. Was also wondering if anybody had any opinions on the aluminum sherrill spurs or any of these ropes. They look to be in good shape. I am gonna assume that with this amount of rope i should be all set for just about any type of rigging encounter? Thanks for any input..saddle.jpg saddle2.jpg saw.jpg gear.jpg

That saddle is a buck classic saddle with a bouson seat. I have the maters version with leg loops. Good saddle for sure. I have used mine for years I really like it.

Awsome thanks for the info. I am completly new to this but what would the beneifits be to have the seat vs the leg hoops? And are the leg hoops something that can be purchased s3partely and added to the saddle if desired? Was also wondering about that hand saw..none of the ones i see online have a handle like that one. Thanks again..sorry for all the noob questions

That is an odd looking handsaw no idea what it is for. Leg loops are some what personal preference I feel personally that they allow better maneuverability. Call buck they may be able to help you about adding them on v

Spurs look to be gecko. I believe the gecko name is branded thru sherrill. They are sold thru other places by different names. Same as that poison ivy climbing line, same line as blue moon just a different color scheme and also a sherrill name. Yale cordage makes many different color schemes for different companies

Thanks i was able to find some info on the spurs and big shot. The ropes i was sure about but they look good. Yes i bought the gear used.

My climbers line will be new but i dont have a problem useing the other ropes for rigging pulling etc..

So if a (used) rigging line snaps (because it was riding around in the trunk of some losers car with a leaky battery before you picked it up on CL, etc.) and a top skewers one of the grounds guys into the lawn, you're comfortable with that.. as long as you're safe and comfy on your new line and bonsun seat. Sounds reasonable enough to me. Lol.

I wouldn't buy used rope or saddles either, you don't know what they've been exposed to.

I am curious to know what the consensuses is on chainsaw lanyards.. does you guys use tearaway safety ones or simply make your own from some rope or is there another option??? Thanks all.

no issues with them breaking away under the weight of the saw?..ie letting it drop down too hard..
