the difference between sherrils 12mm and wesspurs 12mm dynema loop runners is life & death. the color pattern is the same and sherrill will match the price and give u 10% off of the difference. sherrills runner are much stronger at a 27kn abs and wesspurs cheap knockoffs are rated at 22kn abs. sherrill also sells u what is pictured in the catalog and wesspur is misguiding u and showing a pic of a 5/8 spectra runner and giving u a cheep 12mm dynema runner. wesspur does not even picture a 12mm dynema runner anywhere in there catalog. i think wesspur is very unprofessional and will go 4 cheaper products over quality any day of the week. they also will give u a pi$$ poor attitude when u have any problems with your order. most of the time they are willing to refund your money but will short change u on the shipping. i think wesspur stinks and will absolutely never spend another penny with that lousy unprofessional company ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have only good things to say about Wesspur. I personally try to get what ever I can anywhere but Sherrill. They have the price match same as Sherrill but also give you free shipping for orders over $100, and who ever sends less than that??? I have had many of problems with Sherrill and don't really like the way the Sherrill exclusive items tend to be a bit higher than other items.
Got a pair of Stretch Airs from them and they ripped in 3 weeks and were fraying after 1 wash. Had a pair of the thermal tops and after 3 uses and 1 wash there was a hole and they where returned. Last is my rope guide that I am still waiting for a responce from them. I have had 2 othere companies respond to me that they have the part I need but yet the people I already paid for the item has nothing. Yeah great customer service. And if you try to go to a vermeer showroom, they have no idea about any item in there catalog and you mind as well be speaking chinese.

Not true! The Vermeer rep here in Minnesota is on top of his game. Id go as far as to say hes one of Sherrils best reps and he doesnt even work for them.

WLL you need to make sure you order the right slings being Wesspur does have both. Just check the link to see. http://wesspur.com/Slings/light-duty-slings.html

And that may be true for you tophopper and lucky you are. If I am looking for something, they usually don't know what it is and just say go look over there or if you don't see it then we don't have it. I was there a few days ago and asked if they had any buckingham leg scabbords and the women showed me the geiko II spikes.

Since Sherrill's is a large sponser of this site and one of the reasons it exists at all, I vote Sherrill's. nuff said ???

I can only say good things about BOTH companies. Wesspur has actually sent me EXTRA items before! I love Sherill's catalogs, but their website is another story.

maybe you have a lousy attitude, we got prussik cord from sherrill and it was pruner cord plus some other life threatening sh%t with saddles!, get over it angry or go become a political activist on a campus.

wow, 10 minutes of my life i'll never get back. I'm going to go climb a tree or sumtin...

I love Sherill's catalogs, but their website is another story.

As best I see it, Tobe just likes to tinker with internet stuff every now and then, and doesn't really give a hoot that he doesn't understand anything about the whole process. Once, after I complained in here, someone called me representing themself to be the web designer for Sherrill. I got back to him, left a message, then nothing. It's embarrassingly obvious that Tobe has zero aptitude for web design. It would be one thing if this was a new site or a new redesign job, but, despite the little disclaimer the site carries on occasion, this problem has been going on for years.

Sherrill is strange in other ways, too. The first time I ordered a catalog, online, I waited four weeks and then I called them. Another two weeks went by and I called again. In another week or so four catalogs showed up at my office. I just get the feeling that Tobe runs a very odd operation.

The quality of Sherrill's stuff is top-notch, no doubt about it. The easiest way to order seems to be: Have your catalog in hand and then go to the website and order by catalog number. There was some irritatingly stupid login procedure that was up a few months ago, which made it quite a chore to even place an order, but the last time I ordered, that was gone. Now? Who knows!

No complaints about Sherril, but I love Wesspur. We wait to have $100 order and then we get the free shipping. Ordered some bull rope and it was out of stock. They called and upgraded for free. Sent me A&S of Rigging ($300) when I had requested a GRCS DVD (Free) and cleared all that up over the phone. Great website, good kits, and lots of easy to find information. Sherrill has them beat on the catolog presentation.

Spectra and Dyneema are the same thing. The different loops may be rated differently, but it's not because of the material alone.
Did Wesspur advertise a runner as being rated for climbing, then send you one that was not? If that was the case then shame on them. If they never claimed it was rated for climbing then shame on you for not finding out before ordering.

I buy Dyneema runners at REI. Some are 22kN and others are 27kN. The colors and patterns are very close and you have to read the small tags on the runners. Apparently rock climbing guys can do with lesser standards.

I've bought quite a bit of Sherrill stuff before online and at Vermeer dealers.
I've also bought a lot of stuff from Wesspur. Both companies are good, but Wesspur is consistently cheaper and has the free shipping on orders over $100.

Thanks for the discussion guys, it helps to see this in writing.

No doubt about my web design aptitude, it ranks somewhere down there with my public speaking ability.

We're trying to rectify several short-comings of our inventory management software's internet commerce module to make it somewhat user friendly and I believe we'll get there. Many changes have been implemented and many more are coming.

I salute my friends at Wesspur, their previous owner and the guy who started the company (Mike Kaufman) was a good friend and had a lot to do with inspiring me to serve this market. They do a great job.

No doubt that many suppliers have had their problems adjusting to modern buying methods, what matters is their determination to respond. I hope our best and loyal customers have recognized a pattern of service improvement over the years.

Keep up the "constructive" crticism and... be safe.

Tobe
