Solid performing Shindaiwa 488. I like these saws better than an 026/260, but that is me. I think they are built better and feel way more solid in my hands with an aluminum top handle. They have a closed port cylinder of excellent quality. They are reliable - start easy and run forever with simple maintenance.
This particular saw has a new piston and rings replaced due to some scuffing from excessive carbon deposits in the exhaust port. I of course cleaned the carbon before I put it back together. Bottom end checked out just fine. I cleaned the rest of the saw, gave it a coat of paint, and new model decals. Has a fully adjustable carburetor, a generous oiler, and runs and cuts as it should. The chainbrake is fully functional.
Compression is solid at 160psi at 5000 feet. Should adjust to 180+ at sea level.
Please note in the last picture there is a small crack in the top cover over the muffler.
It is pictured with an 18" Oregon .325 bar. The chain is wore out and was used only for the pictures. Bar is included if you want it.
I would port this saw for a buyer if they were interested.
$300 buys it.
I prefer cash - selling some saws to fund the purchase of new digital SLR camera as a gift for my family. Will consider trades/partial trades limited to 70cc+ builders - 372/385/395XP saws, 6400-7900 Dolmar, 046/460, 064, 066/660 Stihl, and older muscle saws of 6cube or larger displacement.
