Just picked up a 500 model for 20!!$$ It runs good, decent bar and chain.. Needs air filter and cover. So, any of you know what cc's this thing is? Is is a good saw?? Or what ever else..

Thanks guys!!

man got my shindy running lots better. I decided to check the plug, and i discovered the gap had worn yes worn to proably double or more of what it should of been. Put in new plug and it runs like a champ.. Any body ever seen a spark plug wear this bad?

Thanks!!

yep ,i have seen it worn so bad ,it really should not have been able to function, but. last week i picked up a pioneer farmsaw .
the fellow thot he got me good on it ,,and so did i at first.he put somethin on the sprocket so it wood turn the chain, when cranked.. but that gave it up quick...
it would absolutely not turn the chain when applied to wood. he probably thot,he couldnt get the sprocket[or mabe he thot the clutch was shot as happens with a car]. turned out
the sprocket was so worn out ,,as to appear to be split dn the middle of the teeth. never seen nothin like that before.
new sprocket and reconditioned chain ,
and this one ,i believe is in the class with the other 65and 70 cc saws ive handled.. pretty heavy tho . mabe 16-17 or more with chain and bar. oughta be a real good buckin saw.
i think this is just another situation where arborsite saved the day ...as it was obvious his dealer had told him parts weren t available. at least that was my guess.. but they are ,,arn t they pioneer.:)ps really love that no compression when cranking feature.
danged is thing i ever seen.

nobody has shindys?? Well i repalced the fuel line today because the old one was jelly. Then had to clean the carb, and now it runs better yet.. Thanks again!!

So are shindys as good as say a stihl or husk of the same size? Size being 48 ccs pulling a 16 325 chain??

Thanks guys!!

I am running 2 Shidaiwa 488's. I changed over to a full adjustable carb on both of them. The 488 with the 18" bar spins best at 14'000 rpm and the 488 that has the 16" bar spins at 13'000 rpm.

We have covered this subject before. It all boils down to what YOU like. I know a Husky 346 would probably run better, But I like the Shindaiwa 488 and the rest of the line of their saws.

I just picked up a Solo 651p. We will see how that stacks up!!!
