I really wish that folk would list their parts and accessories in the "Parts and Accessories" category. The Stihl Chainsaw category has maybe 10% saws and 90% parts and accessories in it. They need a "moderator" to move stuff to the proper place.

rant off,
Ian

Maybe this will help you understand what is happening. Sellers are allowed to pay extra to have their items put in multiple areas to get a wider viewing area. So it might be listed in parts, saws, outdoor equipment, etc. More then one place for the same listing.

Ian, the "Parts and Accessories" category is part of the larger "Chainsaw" category, so by adding a search in "Chainsaw" it should also search the sub category at the same time, fwiw.
You can set up a favorite search in my ebay, then save it, then just go to my ebay and click on that favorite search anytime.

It's all part of the fun of ebay. If you didn't get to see all those parts and accessories how would you suddenly realize "hey I could do with one of them"

Just makes it harder to find what you want. If I wanted parts, I'd look in the parts category. I look for saws in the saw category and what I find is parts with a few saws scattered in the mix here and there.

very frustrating and time consuming,
Ian

Edit: I'm not searching, I'm browsing.. not searching for a specific item, just looking to see what's available.

And another thing (while I'm on roll), there needs to be a way to exclude new items in the search. You have to specify new or used when you list something so you should be able to search for that. When I do search, I get all those ebay businesses selling new stuff. Would be nice to be able to weed those out from the beginning.

As long as we are wishing, how about a way to eliminate baseball caps, knives,T-shirts, belt buckles and the rest of that sort stuff.

It isn't perfect, but here is a search I have saved in my Favorites that gets me where I want to go faster.

I also modify it where it only shows stuff in the U.S., but that is just me. It just illustrates what you can do if you want to refine a search down to what interests you most. Like I said, it isn't perfect and will sometimes weed out the occasional thing you don't want to miss, but most of the time it is fine. Currently, I am mostly interested in somewhat older saws, but the people on here are quickly wearing me down. I may have to have me one of them purty new saws soon. :D

Do an advanced search and you can eliminate the belt buckles, t-shirts, massacre, baseball caps etc. from your search.

If I could do that, I wouldn't have the 2 Stihl hats and Jonsered t shirt that I love! :hmm3grin2orange:
