Do many of guys get signed contacts?? for every job you get, or just over a certain amount, this is what we do.

Our estimate forms have a place for signatures, but most times people will call back later and say do the job, and I just call them back to confirm with a time frame, but I don't have time to chase them down for their John Henry, unless they sign on the spot.

Lets hear a little on what is the norm for a signed contract.

I used to feel you trust people on their word, but that is getting to be a thing of the past. Even if I get good feeling about a job and trust people and don't get a signed contract I still get burned every now and then.

And actually ,I was asking what ya'll would do. EH?:alien:

Are ye daft, lad?

No . I wouldn't walk through a crew to bid a job. I HAVE asked the crew doing a removal if they are grinding the stump.

I only get signed contracts if the customer requests it or the job is very large. If a person's word isn't good I don't value their signature either. The customer gets a written bid from me (most of the time-some little things I just do on the spot). Trust is NICE!

i wouldnt just walk on thru, id see you about to do the job and think "good on them''.but if that was my crew and i would be there, i would have cut something, anything while i was being undercut, once the owner said she wanted to use the other guy id ask for a sum of money depending on situation and rudeness from the home/land owner for starting the job.but hey thats me

Don't bring reason or logic into this conversation.

I am the same way. People have blasted me on the b*zz and here for that practice. Fact is a contract (like a patent) is only as good as the amount of money you have to defend it.

If you think you can go into court without a lawyer and beat them because you have a contract, you have watched way too much Perry Mason and movies.

Bottom line is if it comes down to taking a contract to court, even if you win, their lawyer will make money, and your lawyer will make money, oh, and you will have wasted much more time that you could have spent out working.

i'm affraid to say me and ''old fat boy '' would have come to blows theres no way after being given the go ahead would i pack up my gear and tell the crew that we aint working here..and the women would have been told politely that sorry time for finding other bids is over were here and were here to work like rocky said your man had a verbal contract...i think he done the wrong thing by leaving

Nah, that wouldn't fly around here. She just wouldn't pay, and then you'd have to take her to court and crap. It just ain't worth it.

It's not like it happens all the time.

in that case MB the moral of the story is get um to sign quick before you start ..but im still afraid to say that old fat boy wuold have been put in his place
