Sihl models

After reading the thread from Boston Bull, it go me to thinking about a possible site that would list the Stihl model number and the date of manufacture. Does anyone know of such a site. It sure would be nice to know when a given model was produced, or would this require a e-mail to Stihl. Would this e-mail go to the customer service dept.?

Chainsaw collectors corner has that info, it wont tell ya anything about the year of yours by serial number, but if you have the model# you can get an idea of when it was built. Chainsaw Collectors Corner

After visiting tbe Collectors web site I did not see any current models listed( newer than 1940). I was refering to the later models that were manufactured in the early 70 to the present.

you didnt look all the way through then, there are a good 3-5 pages worth of Stihl models there.

I posted this earlier today on another thread. Its my reply from Stihl USA.

We are in receipt of and thank you for your e-mail. Besides
the first digit, which is the plant identifier number, all other numbers are
just random sequences. There is no way to tell the date of manufacture of
the unit except by registration and production records. If you will provide
me with the serial number, I will research it and tell you when the chainsaw
was manufactured. Anyone can contact us for this information, and that would be the only way to find it.
