Im was fixin to order my first set of knives for my new w/c 17 chipper and noticed that there are two different kinds? simonds and zenith? and the simonds are twice as much. Will someone please inlighten me!

Zenith are imports. Not sure about the others.I have been using Zenith for years and they work well and last as long as the name brand we used to use.

I heard that the zeniths are good for 12" chippers, but don;t hold up as well on the bigger equipment... that was from a bandit dealer... I think bandit is a distributir for simonds... or is that sigmonds?

zenith is made in mexico and cost half what its American counterpart does. So I ask you- Are you hiring illegals? Are you helping the American economy? Should the American economy be helped?
Oh I see... just get it done cheaper.

I have also used the ones that baileys sells. They are actually made a few miles from me.

Mine were stamped made in vietnam.

I guess that would be right but it makes me ask questions like I did. I mean my own country wants to sell me something that cost more than something made in another.
I don't really see which is better either and the only difference I can asumme is, well, I don't know. Just odd.
Is Vietnam really ready to fire missles at us too now?
I was getiing some rubber for my tree truck and the guy was telling me the prices of different brands of tires. They all were within 20 bucks or so of each but he did say the more expensive brands were made here in the US where we have child labor laws, minimum wage, etc. I think he brought up a valid point and a savings of 20 bucks a tire... well lets say that evrybody wants it cheaper, ceptin me. I just want it right, which seems impossible no matter what country you live in. I also guess you have to be the judge of what you feel is right by yourself.
