Single chain conveyor

I've only used the belted conveyor. What I like is hydraulic. You can jamb it, stall the belt, without damage, and it does happen from time to time. It can be reversed to retrieve splits or clear chips trapped between the drum and belt, which effects belt tracking. Does it matter if it's belt or chain?

Seems like that setup would be a pain to always have to position the splits in the V. I'm sure some would fall into place, but many wouldn't.

My 20ft conveyor is a double chain unit, but it's only about 12" wide (which is stupid). I constantly get splits that end up sideways and then jam up the works. It's not the end of the world to help the wood along, but it's a non-issue on the 30ft conveyor we have which is about 2ft wide.
I bought the conveyor based on the 30ft unit we have (Blockbuster) and had no idea it would be narrow until it showed up. Wasn't too much I could do at that point.

He splits his wood a little coarse for my taste but he knows how to make things work. He's probably a popular guy in his town.
