I just bought some property that has Rose bushes and Crab Apple tree with LONG thorns all over them. The land is too steep in places to take a tractor and bush hog so I thought about buying one of the brush cutters for my skid steer and use it along with tracks to get to this stuff. My skid steer is a John Deere 7775 50hp with low flow hydro. I plan on using it for awhile but only for personal use. My question is, do any of you have any experience with these? The one I am looking at is not the forestry cutter, it is like the ones used on tractors. It is rated for trees up to 3 inches in diameter I think that will do what I need as it is mainly rose bushes with a few crab apples thrown in. I appreciate any advise, Thanks.

I also wanted to ask if anyone has the fellows email address that makes the branch manager grapple? I spoke to him a few years ago about a capstan winch and think I am ready to get one.

I don't think you have enough HP to run one of those heavy duty brush cutters. We have an Ambusher brush cutter on a low flow skidsteer that has an 80HP engine. It just barely is enough HP for tough cutting. I think you would be wasting your money.

Thanks for replys. I spoke to a salesman today and for what it's worth he said my machine would run their brush cutter. There is actualy a video of the cutter be powered by a cat skid-steer and it is mainly doing grass. That would probly be most of what I would be doing, briars ,weeds and very small trees. I tend to agree that I dont have a big enough machine to do any brush with any size at all. I may get one of these just for grass on the steeper slopes.
