Thats the Criminal.

Worst part of the Victim, Doesnt harm anything mechanically. Saw still runs great, fires right up second/third pull.

Have to excuse the purple powder on the saw. Dad also owns and operates a Powdercoating shop.

Nicely bent brand new bar!

Bent, broken, etc.

bent, doesnt seal anymore.

The saw seems to have fallen off the skidder, ran over by one of the rear tires, complete with Ice Chains, then had 2 Large (over 24") Poplar's limbs and top.

Top handle was smashed in all directions, every cutter on the chain was bent over, rakers broken. I'm surprised the Tank doesnt have any holes in it and doesnt leak!!

Had to steal clutch drum to put on dads spare saw to go back to work.

Looking for anyone that might have parts for this thing!!

Happy Cutting!

I have a 357 that jumped out of the back of the pickup under the tires of a loaded gooseneck trying to commit suicide a couple of years ago. It was an unsuccessful attempt though. I sent it to Dr. romeo's clinic and he made a 60cc race saw out of it. It's held together with bailing wire & medical tape, ugly as sin. But it's the 60cc saw that everyone around here is gunning for.

I'll see if I can find the Handlebar, its somewhere in the work truck. You can actually see where the ice chains caught the bar and put dents in it and generally rolled it off the saw.

As far as parts go, Clutch Cover, Top Plastics (The High Top is fine, its the bigger cover that needs to be replaced), Handlebar, Chainbrake lever, Mufflers dented up but useable. The saw gave up its clutch drum for another saw to go back to work.

Handlebar probably will buy new so that its straight as I am not a fan of even a slightly bent handlebar on these saws, they just dont hang right after being bent.

*EDIT* This saw is a '98 and this is its second incident like this. When it was barely a week old it got ran over also!!

Nice skidder.

Thanks its the bosses. 1991 JD 640D. Brings 8 of anything you wish to put behind it, aslong as the chokes will go around them! Another logger in town has a 640E (the enclosed cab, has more creature comforts, newer style) that has 12 slides and you can fill the slides on that on with hard maple as big as the chokes allow and walk out of the woods with them.

Rupedog has your filter cover. I have the top shroud that goes under it. Mine is used, but not broken. Those bar covers are not plentiful in the used market. Seems they all get shredded. I'll check on the brake handle. I don't think I have any good spares. PM me with address for the top shroud.

I'd put the bar in a hydraulic press, and see if she'll straighten out.

I don't think that saw likes you... This is it's second attempt to leave you, so we not ship it to me.:clap:

Sorry don't have the parts to help you but it doesn't look to be in that bad of shape.

I'd keep a watch on Ebay for a parts saw. I was just looking Ebay over for you. I seen clutch covers, handlebars, gas tanks, flywheel covers, tops, etc.

And try to keep it away from those skidders! :)

Saw Dr. Thanks very much I will PM you. This saw has "eaten" 3 bar covers!
I think I have a Brake Handle, Depending on which model top cover you have, I cant remember if the one I'm picturing is for a 371 or 372.

The bar is going in the press next time I get to my gramps shop. Where the chain rides doesnt seem to be compromised in the bend so I think I'll be okay there.

The first time the saw got ran over I'm not sure what had taken place. I know that dad had to replace the case halves :censored: that time.

I've been keeping my eyes pealed for more parts for these saws, last winter and this spring was rough on saws around here...dad likes to twitch on them...gives me an excuse to work on saws tho!

The real criminal was the guy who left saw in harm's way

I have pulled a few similar stunts in the past with bad results,
bad things can happen when you get in a rush & don't take care.

The saw usually rides tucked in next to the winch. The closest we have come up with was that something pushed the saw out of its hidey-hole.

Well its been a while, Dad finally broke down and went and got the rest of the parts new to fix the saw.

Got to looking at it, and its a good thing i have a spare lower end thats good. Around the choke lever area was pushed down and in (towards the center of the saw). I knew the cases were broke, just didnt pay attention till all the parts were around to work on it.

Thanks again to those who donated parts!
