I need to pull out some trees quite a distance from any wood-roads. Talking about 300' or so.
I can pick up some 3/4 nylon at a good price. The tensile strength is 14,200 lbs.
Will the nylon rope be O.K?
I plan to use snatch blocks, atv, 8n, and/or backhoe to pull with. I can cut the trees to manageable lgths.

First off how big/heavy are the trees? Is there much resistance during the pull? An ATV can't pull squat, they are not designed to. An 8N will be better but you will need a spotter with a radio. The backhoe will pull the most, same rules.

A pull with nylon rope has to be well thought out. If you are a 3 strand layed rope it will stretch 75' and more under load. That means alot of stored energy so be careful. If you are going to use 3/4" stable braid then it will stretch less but it will still stretch. And it will cost $450.00 plus shipping. You would be better off buying 200' pieces of Chicom 3/8" wire rope for about 225.00 and spilicing them together. It is not difficult to do if you have instructions.

Overall a 300' pull is very hard to manage. As soon as you crest the hill the rope will be on the ground and digging in. Sling blocks, chokers, rigging slings, radios all add to the cost. Do have have climbing gear and the skills to climb to even set the blocks?

Good luck and stay safe.

Make sure you hook to the 8N only at the drawbar.
