i just acquired 2 homelites, an XL, and a VI Super II. i didn't check them out good yet but they both seem in pretty good condition and they fire right up. how do i get at the air filters on them? do i take the side cover off?
i ground out a few stumps for a friends father as a favor and when i was getting ready to leave, he handed me these saws saying he was too old to use them anymore and maybe i can get some use out of them.
are they decent small saws? what are the CC's?
TIA

The XL is 26 cc and Super 2 is 31 cc.Im not sure with those saws but i think the air filter is under a small cover on top of saw along the oil/gas caps. Those saws runs pretty good for their size.

Yep, there's a black plastic cover piece on the left side where the choke lever and carb adjustment screws are located. Pry this cover off and the filters are little green (or black from oil/dirt) foam elements that should be clearly visible.

thanks for the info!! if there is anything else that is good to know about these saws, let me know.
oh!! like i said, i haven't really checked them out good yet, do they run .325 or 3/8 chain? .050?
they seem like they can be useful for some limbing on downed trees and for clearing saplings.
