usually the guys don't answer "smaller" questions on here. affects their masculinity ;)

last year i bought an MS170. 14" bar, picco chain, very light weight. does a great job for cutting up tops that a slasher company left on our acreage...

Yellow Springs - that 'splains it.

What is your budget and intended use? Professional where up-time is critical, or occasional, non-critical back yard stuff where a Poulan would do?

You can get a heck of a deal on a Poulan XXV or variant and get quite good service out of it (in certain arenas with certain expectations) or you could step up to a Sthil, Husky, Echo, or other higher-end machine and lowe the overall PITA factor.

Not bashing the little Poulans - I have a couple and love 'em for certain jobs - but when I'm out in the woodlot with my buds and need to be cutting in 2~3 pulls to maintain my accumulated dude-points, the Poulans stay home.

looking to buy small light weight chain saw 12" i have husqvarna 335 but want something smaller. any ideas:chainsaw:

Could you give us a bit more info about your needs, since you already have what I'd consider to be a small saw. Smaller in what sense? Dimension? Weight? Power? Are you looking for another top handle or a tail handle saw?

Without knowing the answers to my questions, I'd say that in the realm of tail handle saws the Echo 346 would be a saw to consider as would the Stihl MS170/180. There have been a couple good discussions about these saws lately, so if you do a search you should be able to find a bunch of good reading on the topic.

I have a Echo CS-341 top handle that is pretty small/light. Nice little saw for around the backyard and cutting stuff smaller for a burn pile.

Are you looking at getting into juggling or something? I'd suggest Poulan, cheapest to replace during the early part of the learning curve...

The smaller saw you made need is a Zubat handsaw.

HA! HA! I like mine and no oil or gas needed!! No but really are you going to be cutting firewood or something if so check out the STIHL miniboss ms180 less than 9lbs and 2hp...

Yeah, I laughed at it, But I have one under the Xmas tree for my 3 year old niece.

Seriously though, I have a McCulloch 2014 that is pretty small. I have a 14" bar on the 32cc saw. I use it to cut up pallets to burn. I use it more than my other saws.

small saw

Just ordered the same saw for my 5 yr old. Its the new version with the kill switch and pull start, from England. Abit pricey but its worth the extra moula for my kid. Check them out on ebay and watch the video, my kid saw it and that was it, it became a must have, ( i kinda like it too ), not sure how it will stack-up to my 026 and 028 super though. Lol
