Does anyone out ther know, if it would be possible to split a bed plate by shooting about 2" of alluminium tube from the handle of a rake, the chipper worked for around two hours after the rake, and then the bed plate broke. What do you think.

The broken bed plate might have been a result of the fifty rocks and chunks of brick your groundmen shoved through the chipper with the rake before the rake got caught in the feed wheels and got sucked in!

Cheers JPS and TC165, I didn`t think that the alloy rake handle could do that alone. A few days before the bed plate broke, somebody had replaced the bedplate, tightened it up and then gave it a good spray of WD40. I thought that the WD40 might have helped loosen the bedplate while the chipper was running, I don`t know, I`m no mechanic.
