We're getting slammed with snow, just got back from my second trip cleaning houses. Already have about 15", looks like another 10" or so by tomm., This is the storm of the century around here, looks like there's going to be no school or anything else for maybe 3-4 days. Not sure if I'm going to be able to get to the houses I need to clean again if it gets much deeper, they haven't been able to keep up on cleaning the roads. Bunch of idiots getting stuck in their little hondas and toyota 2 wheel drive cars and a suprising amount of minivans out there:confused:
Was supposed to start with ice yesterday but no luck, heard NC is getting a bunch of ice damage again.
DDM you out there?:D

2-16-03 ICE

NC-> is getting the ice storm of a decade. I tell you there is ice every where. Work is coming in by the min. , but can't get to it because of the ice. Well the good thing is when it's all over we'll have all the work we need. Better enjoy the time off. Cabben feaver is setting in.

Man, We're still slow here and won't be able to do anything for at least a couple weeks now, wonder what my guys would think about going to NC...????....

Bad side..

The weather might keep you from working. You'll have work, but wont be able to do it. Unless you can get tree skates .

need any help

hay froggy if you need any help let me know been climing for quite awhile things are slow here

Just friggin cold here-you keep the snow and ice further south thanks. -25F and colder every night here. You know it is cold when your furnace has run 15 out of 24 hours the previous dayaccording to the digital thermostat. Little further up the valley it has been mid -30F all week.

looks like there's going to be no school or anything else for maybe 3-4 days.

My sister lives in Arlington, she says more like 3-4 weeks!:D

New forecast here, 18-25 by lunchtime tomorrow. Plows on,sanders full, bring it on!

In central NC we had alot of sleet but very little ice on trees, no major problems. I was hoping for more ice but it got colder and only sleet.:(

It's gone:( Well maybe:D I'm wore out! Only got an extra 5", that's plenty. Now come on SPRING!
I don't think they'll have school until next monday if I'm lucky! The kids are all for it now, wait until they have to make up these days, today was supposed to be a makeup day anyhow.

Even if we got a good layer, the ground is so froze that it would just run off whrn it melts. We need a thaw then a good few inches as a last hurrah for the season.

this winter has been dryer then I can remember, but then the area just west of here used to be oak savanah, then prarie, with some pockets of true desert.

I sorta miss the winters of the 70's when the drifts would cover the house.

I ended up buying a second plow truck, 90 Bronco w blade, in the middle of the storm on Sunday... The seller and I had to go pick up the tag guy at his house and drive him into his office 'cause ther was already 7" down. The guy's been doing my tag work since I was a kid, and said in 35 years it was the first transfer he'd ever done on a Sunday. And he wouldn't take a tip!!!
I ended up plowing from 3 PM Sunday to 3 AM Tuesday, 36 hours straight, with no breaks for meals or even anything to drink. I never stepped foot in a resuraunt or store, only had 2 minor repairs and 1 dig out. Started having a few minor hallucinations towards the end there.
Then slept four or five hours and plowed 14 hours on Tuesday. 6 or so hours on Wed and a few straglers on Thursday. Then did an all-nighter Thursday to get ready for a court case on Friday afternoon, which I had planned to work on in the beginning of the week.
So it's been an intense week..
Now I gotta get the bills out before the snow (and peoples memory of how I saved their a$$es) melts.
One thing I wouold highly recommend is the hands free headset for cell phones, which was sweet for plowing and a great improvement in any driving or operating situation.
God Bless All,
Daniel

My parents just got their bill from the new snow plow kid who is doing our driveway. First time they have had to pay in over 5 years. For this past storm was $50 with about 25 inches on the ground. 2 plows before that at $30 each. No sales tax on the bill. Kid doesn't know how to plow either. I am debating on whether or not to go gunning for him later on down the road.

Murph, how many times over did the storm pay for the truck?;)

I would like to have a loader and a dump there right now, last big storm we had (5 years ago?) an aquaintance of mine paid for over half of his new loader subbing on snow removal.
