Snow or Ice?

Several..... that is I haven't got it all addded up just yet.
I believe they said this was one of the 4 biggest snows arouond here in over 100 years.. I plowed 3 of them.... in 81 we had over 20' and I had just bought a '64 Scout w/ power angle for $500.... first time I ever plowed snow. That was FUN!!!
Anyhow on this last one, I was charging $150-200/drive for call- ins. Did 98% of the plowing within 2 zip code areas. My wife was playing dispatcher and feeding me contacts 3 at a time.
I'll charge all my commercial lots 3 times, twice at the over 4" rate and once at the over 12" rate plus a salting, and double dip(at least) on the regular driveways.
I did however get really sloppy and do some minor damage, which is not like me... and it is definately time after the season's over to rebuild or replace the trans on the '89 Ram Charger. And the new bronco needs the same for the transfer case.
I prefer to plow with oldie but goodies... you wouldn't be able to plow the way I did with a new truck...NO WAY!!!

yet more ice

Woke up this morning to yet another ice storm. We had a major one in december, and a little one in january, now today we already have 1/2 of ice on the trees with heavy freezing rain still falling. Trees hold 1/2 inch pretty well but more than that they start to fail. They say we could get about 1/4 to 1/2 half inch more ice.The phone should start ringing any time . Has this winter had more snow and ice the normal? I hope the power does not go out for long .

Having survived the ice storm of the century in Jan 98 I do not envy you at all. We had 2" of ice on everything and even the hydro transmission towers were coming down. I ended up getting called back to active duty as a newly minted Army reservist and worked for three weeks straight. This winter has been a lot colder here, but aside from one dump of 12" last weekend, we have had very little snow and no ice to speak of. (Knock on wood). But there are over 1500 people in this city with froaen water mains, my sister being one of them.
