Is it me who is getting stronger in my older age ? :blob2:

Lately I keep bending the tangs on some of my files when sharpening, I seriously doubt at my age that I am getting stronger, so I can only assume that the last bunch of files I purchased are weaker !

Any body else experiencing this ?

Hum ! Perhaps the new handles are causing this ! :dizzy:

Perhaps I am not as smooth as in the past !

I do the same thing. Especially the smaller files (3/16) tend to bend easily. I file freehand, and sometimes bear down on the file pretty good. I assume that you are doing the same. I just put it up to weak metal.

one thing these i like these worn out files for, is little changes, i may want to make in cutters etc.. u cant put that metal back on ,,once its gone.this way a mistroke does less damage ,probably none if the file is cheap enuff. :)

I isn't just you. A lot of file tangs are softer. I don't know if it an incidental change in the tempering process or a liability thing because of people injuring themselves when snapping hardened tangs.
