Junker, where are you in Ky?...if you are close to the Illinois line there are several dealers down in the bottom of Illinois...Brookport,(Metropolis),, Mounds,Carbondale..etc
AS far as the "Farms out" statement. You have 2 chainsaw companies in the same town in Germany, and the 3rd so close their employees can eat lunch with the others , and they all have been there for a long, long time. It is likley that many of the small "Job Shops" as we would call them here do work for all, and we have seen evidence of shared technology over the years. Most likley half the employees that work for one used to work for the other, as in any small town.
All I can say for certain is, the Emmerick and Stihl family. who own each of the companies, are in their second generation, In other words, the sons of the founders are the bosses now. As young men, these fellas ran the streets in the same small town, chasin fraulines, sluggin down stiens of their fav brew, sometimes together.( Mr. Emmerick told me that just this summer). For all you guys who think they are all 3 deadly enemies....sorry, it just aint so!
In fact the current president of Dolmar also was a classmate and Lifelong aquaintance also.
Now I certainly cant say if they currently "farm out" work to one another as far as any particular component or part goes. But they have in the past, and as Seesaw says, Solo is marketing a saw at least assembeled in the Dolmar plant now , and is a current model in the Dolmar lineup. So it could be very likely that this is a common a thing over there as it is right here in the USA.
In the USA, When any plant makin just about anything gets behind on a particular component, they go out and have someone who has the capability make it for them, or if a company has a new snazzy machine they are trying to pay for, they look for extra work outside of their own production needs. I cant hardly believe that this is something that happens only in north America. And givin the particular parties in question all grew up together, as did their employees, ...well....you guys who dont think this happens might just have that "Blind Brand Loyalty disease"
