I was looking into maybe picking up a used chipper for my property.Instead of stacking the brush which is time consuming,I could just feed it through the chipper and blow it back into the woods.
I would like to know what to look for in a used chipper.I would prefer one with a gas engine since I am unfamilar with diesels. Also I am keeping everything down to 2" in diameter so I do not need any monster. Are older models easy to get teeth for and such.Is there any brand to stay away from ?
Any advice is appreciated.

Good chippers

Sounds like you need a nice small chipper.

Stay away from the chuck and duck types. They are dangerous and most are quite old now.

I've only owned 12 inch and bigger chippers but I have used the smaller ones on occasion. Many rental fleets have Vermeer 625's and 935's. You can pick up a nice 625 for around 5k. Its a nice slow feed chipper, easy to get parts for, and you could pull it around with a 4 wheeler or something.

My experience is with Vermeer 1220, 1230, 1250, Bandit 150, and now currently Woodsman 12x.

Happy Chipping, Russ.
