on that last photo.........got a nice burl hanging out.
Keep an eye out for when that tree comes down
I'm not much of a woodworker so what do you use the burls for?

Mostly I see people make ****** awful table tops out of them. :smile2: I don't know what it is but some folk think that if their table has a glossy burl top it must be the bee's knees, but usually the bases are even more poorly made than, or do not match, the tops.
Seriously, burls can be better used in fancy boxes or as veneers for matching cupboard doors or drawers. Sometimes they look good as parts of car interior, eg Rolls Royce will pay premium $ for Olive wood Burl. Burl can also be used for fancy tool handles.

Hahaha! Got a chuckle out of that one Bob! Very true, waste of burl IMO. Most of the stuff I get is made into blanks for Gunstocks/Bowl blanks/game calls/bottle stopper blanks/ pens/ pistol grips/ clocks(live edges)/ jewelry (ladies' go nuts for it). When it comes to the board ft......burl usually fetches top price for woodworkers. As long as your stock doesn't turn to splinters shortly after cutting it up ....gotta be careful with the dry time, and wax/lacquer become good friends with that.
