Nice video!! How old were the teeth in that? Brand new?

Not new at all. Several of them really need to be changed out.

I've actually got a few that one side of them broke but I still sent them to my neighbor to sharpen. I just use the one good side and it works like a charm.

I need to swap them out and take him a batch to sharpen. I moved a couple of hours worth of wood with my skid for him and he told me to not worry about the teeth next time. Just bring them by.

Scott you should sharpen your own. Nothing to it. You just need a bench grinder and green wheel. Use a shop vac while your sharpening so you don't have the hazardous dust.

I have both but it's just not my thing to sit there and grind dozens of these teeth.

Neighbor grinds and sandblasts them clean for $3 when I have to pay. He'll even run the ones with bugered thread thru a die for me. Saved many that way.

Dude thats a huge stump for a Dosko, we had a Dosko and then moved to a 25hp Stump Humper. Using the Dosko for more than 5 minutes gave us all backpain and just generally broke us.
This stump wasn’t bad, it was about 40" at the base, took about an hour or so to grind and less than a gallon of fuel.

I sharpen my own carbides, it’s easy and it saves money.

I just did a nice green pine stump today. It was probably 40" at the top and REALLY flared out from there. I ground a 12' diameter area around the stump to get all the roots. It took 50 minutes.

Oh, I burn about 2 gallons of diesel an hour when loaded down pretty good.

What kind of money for something used like what you have, or did you buy it new?
It sure is sweet!

I found a sweet deal last year. It is a 06 model and last April it only had 165 hours on it and paid $29,900. It looked almost brand new. Carlton had one at the same time with over 300 hours and wanted $34,000. (and it wasn't blue :) )

New they are about $46,000.

Oh, I forgot to mention how I LOVE the remote. That last stump had a big bad nest of yellow jackets right beside it. One of the groundsmen found that out after getting stung about 20 times while we cut it down.

I just engaged the cutter wheel from about 10 feet off and drove up to the stump and started grinding all while standing safely away. They were some kind of mad.

(Guess you better pack some benadryl in your truck if you own a Rayco that DOESN'T have a remote. hehehe)

That remote is pretty cool, good story about the yellow jackets.

I put the edge back on one set of carbides (eight in a set), I bring 3 sets with me for backup. The grinding wheels you can get at Bailey's. Each carbide set can be rotated three times so they last about 5 stumps before I re-sharpen them.
Most everyone has a grinder and a drill press, just need the grinding wheel. I use a dual filter respirator because the wheel dust is harmful to breathe.

Man your posts are getting old. Why do you constantly have to rag on the Rayco's? The no remote comments are the worst (broken record). We all know you don't think they are the best machines. Your Carlton is awesome, but what does it matter when there is no money to be made in Mississippi grinding stumps? No sense in doing the work or investing large amount of money if the pay sucks right?

BTW, do you know Rayco is coming out with a remote model here real soon?

Pay is just fine here. I've made much money grinding. I'm averaging over $150 per hour and have put over 300 hours in about a year. Do the math if you want to. (I do trees too.)

Someone else posted a thread with a video of his stump grinder. I've never posted a video and had just recently made one. Thought I'd share.

If you don't like my threads, DON'T READ THEM. Duh.

Didn't know I was hurting people's feelings by posting what I did. jeez.
