i've had a few loops of 33rp on backorder from baileys for almost two months now. no response from them as too how much longer of a wait to expect. what other places do you guys use to order 3/8" x .063 ripping chain? (besides granberg)

me too. they just emailed me yesterday that they are waiting on the manufacturer. so that tells me alot....:bang:

mike, karl,

at least they got back to you guys. I've sent a few emails and haven't heard anything.

i was reading up on sharpening on here earlier today and came across a link to madsens,

checked their site and they carry oregon ripping chain, among lots of other good stuff.

lots of good knowledge/reading on that site too. I'm going to call them monday about some loops.

I've tried milling with my regular chains, which are oregon full chisel semi skip.

I get better results from the WP33rp.

Of course, I am woefully inexperienced with this whole process, and still learning the basics of sharpening so my results are very likely due to operator, not equipment.

but so far i feel like i've been making some decent progress getting my existing loops of 33rp sharp, they cut better every time i mess with them.

Which is why it's frustrating that the new ones i ordered aren't here yet!:angry2:

There is a thread on the Bailey's forum talking about Carlton (Woodland Pro chain is made by Carlton) chain on backorder.

Carlton is not offering any explanations, but it sounds like they must have a plant down for maintenance or some such thing because there is a huge backorder.

Normally Bailey's is the best place to get chain, cheap, and with no waiting. But until Carlton fills their order, one may have to look at other sources like Madsens.

Forestry Suppliers sells it in up to 36in loops

i need 135 link loops. (42").

called madsens, their price for oregon chain is over 60% higher than the WP chain. so i could get two for the price of three. If it wasn't in the 20's and low 30's around here I'd really be frustrated.

bright side: this gives me an excuse to learn to become awesome at sharpening chain in the field on the fly.

I Have ripped LOTS of lumber with an Alaskan mk111 and I make my own rip chain. I start with OREGON Full comp Semi-Chisel I split two teeth in half Looking down from the top. Then I skip two and split the next two i continue this all the way around the chain.
Now the teeth that are split get their rakers filed 25-30ths more than the full teeth. Then all the teeth are filed to about a 5 dergee angle.
This is what Granberg will sell you if you buy from them but it is horribly expevsive. This cuts faster and smoother than any thing I have ripped with.
I have done this with full chisel and it cuts super fast but very rough.
Happy sawing:chainsawguy::notrolls2:

I'm sending an e-mail tonight to verify but as of today the Bailey's web site says that .375x.058 and .375x.063 is in stock.

It's been listed as "in stock" this whole time so definitely call them before you click "buy"! I called the other day and they said the earliest they could ship my order will be Jan 15. (not even a confirmation, just a "looks like" ). That will be over 3 months since i ordered/paid. The guy on the phone was so nice and apologetic about it the conversation ended with ME telling HIM it was okay, not to worry. I think he pulled the jedi mind trick on me.

Grande Dog responded in the Baileys forum that the only ripping chain that is currently out of stock is lo pro
