That sounds all to familiar
My mother’s mother, my beloved grandmother is battling cancer. She alternates my house and my sisters (2 weeks at a time). We do our best, but it’s a loosing battle. The last two weeks of her life the vultures swoop in….. her two daughters (mom being one of them). They lawyer up and battle over the inheritance. Absolutely DISGUSTING

My mom is my mom and always will be. She has done things in the past that disappointed me, but nothing like when her mom passed. And then the way she blew through it all…..

Just upsetting
It is upsetting. I'd moved in with my grandmother to take care of her and the house when I graduated from high school. First thing that happened when she passed was my Aunt showed up and threw me out so I moved in with my dad. My grandmother had given me my grandfathers deer rifle years before. A few days later my aunt had the chutzpah to call me and demand it back. No, she is not a hunter. I imagine she wanted to sell it. She didn't get it as by that time I'd had more than enough. She still had the nerve to ask if I was going to keep mowing the lawn. The language got fairly rough. Even my sisters who had nothing to do with my grandmother, never visited etc got involved in the pillaging. They have all passed away and I don't miss them. It's just too bad what some people value.
Luckily my wife and her two brothers are not like that at all. No one argued over anything.

From the stories of others posted here my long time assumptions were probably well founded. One being that one of my brothers and his wife would be at my parents’ home with a moving van before the hearse got there. My other brother probably would have been there right after the hearse left. Ultimately both brothers died before my parents and my SIL was removed from multiple wills.

Yes all the elder and property care fell on me,… However, I think it’s cake compared to the probable war as they would have cleaned my parents out if they had the chance. Me… I want to make sure my parents needs are met. The plan is to also to have my sons each have a house. If anything is left for me that’s great. If not I’ll be fine as I planned ahead for my day… and I have good sons and a great woman in my life. Though perhaps too many tools, bicycles, and pew pews…. I mean who needs 4 Stihl chainsaws, including a 661? 😉

Happy Thanksgiving everyone ... and remember, the first Thanksgiving was VENISON!!!
On that note there are two 4 pointers in the woods behind mom’s right now. Not having much luck getting a good photo. The rain and sleet is messing with the focus.

My nephew got his first ever

I let a little fellas walk

My brother in-law missed a chip shot…

My oldest nephew missed, after the bro in-law (Bill) missed, I jump out my stand and push the woods. It works. I get to the far tree line and look back at my nephews in the blind. There are TWO deer there! I call them on the cell and tell them, look out the window to your backs….

Well the oldest sees the deer and takes a shot…

Missed

Kinda annoyed that he missed a 80yrd shot, but maybe it wasn’t meant to be

Home and cooked up the tenderloin and about to watch the Lions devour the Bears

Happy Thanksgiving fellas

Uncle Mike, nephew was using my pre64 30-06 (that rifle just continues to put venison on the table)IMG_9997.jpeg75448698137__D01BCCBC-D999-4CA4-98AD-B3BEC1CC1804.jpegIMG_0006.jpeg
