spark arrester screen

Does anyone know where I can buy some spark arrester screen? I want to work some mufflers over and keep screen over the outlets. Thanks.

Ken Dunn told he you can pick up a screen and deflector for a Husky 272 for under $10. The screen is roughly 3/4" X 1" in size. Whatever you use make sure the screen is stainless steel.

Why is that? The screen on my stihls looks like brass.

Hey partner:

you might check at the local hardware store in the plumbing section. If u look near the area for faucets the screen that goes in the tip of your kitchen sink faucet is stainless steel. Thats what I use and it works great for me.

Screen mesh could be any material

mesh could hold up to the heat of the exhaust and not rust , right?
Brass, copper, stainless, nickel, pretty much any of it.

Heck you could even use a low grade steel and if it rusts a little so what.

The entire muffler(s) on my older saws like an 028 is rusted

The shiny metal sure looks pretty.

You can buy small sheets of stainless mesh from McMaster Carr.

Screen material is also called wire cloth (industrial term I guess) if your looking for it in industrial supply outfits
