When splicing New England Cordage's Safety Pro, how many strands do you pull to have a reasonable size covertail?

What is safety pro? Is that the 12 strand with red spec? What are you spliceing that for? Hmmm.........?

I don't know what to tell you. Did you try NE's website for the instructions on spliceing that rope? Can it even be spliced? I say give it up and splice some 16 strand instead.

Husky,

I'll ask our splicing department your question in the morning. If you have follow-up questions, please feel free to call them. 1-800-525-8873, extension 280 (or is it 281?... well, if you get the operator, just ask for Octavious or Jerry in splicing).

Husky,

I asked your question to Jerry in splicing, and he said, "7 strands". As I menioned earlier, if you have follow-up questions, feel free to give our guys a call. 1-800-525-8873, extension 281.

So you pull 7 strands, to have a 5 strand covertail. Sean do you follow the same measurements that New England Cordage specs. for pulling the covertail through the body of the rope, in 16 strand?

Jerry said that for pulling the covertail through, the measurements are the same.

We are looking into it, but no definite word yet. We should be getting our samples to evaluate within a few days. Nick gave me a full report today as well.

If you want a second opinion I have mine and I love it. The best I have seen and climbed on yet. The guys in the spliceing department come up with any tricks on spliceing the velocity. I talked to Tim Bushnell and he said they hated it. I have one here to finish my second one and I don't feel like doing it. I the wax makes it so much harder to pull.
