Hey guys ,I am almost finished with my splitter I have a couple of questions, the only items I am using off of the old splitter is the cylinder and the I beam How critical is it to get all the old hyd. oil out of the cylinder, and will the air automaticaly work its way out of the lines? Chub, thanks I will post pictures when it is complete.

If the oil was clean and you kept crap out of fittings I dont think yo have to. The air will bleed its way out as you cycle cylinder back and forth. I would guess you are using same oil too. :D

The original needed alot of work, then the pump went ,so it sat for years,It saw no dirt and was stored inside but I have no idea what kind of oil he used.[The splitter was given to me] Pretty much It is totally new except for the cylinder and i beam.

You can use compressed air to cycle the cylinder both ways to get as much as possible out. Or manually drain it by jusst tilting it back and forth. Wouldn't hurt to flush it a couple times. From the description of sitting that long, I would replace all oil.
