My 044 has an 18" .050 3/8 chain, I just bought new bar off ebay it is .63 3/8", is there any problem switching back and forth between .50 and .63 chains using the same sprocket? Or would the different thickness chains cause conflicting wear patterns causing excellerated wear on both chains?

Thanks

I believe that there is a difference in drive sprocket accomodations for the .050 and .063 drives. I would spend the extra $7 ( I believe that's the cost from Baileys) to swap out the drive. The .063 chain would be either snug or wouldn't fit into the drive sprocket slots. When you order sprockets, the seller usually asks what size drive you are planning to run so they can get the correct size.

Thanks for the info...I just left their site and see what you are stating. I stand corrected then...sorry for any confusion. Then again it's only .013 difference between the two sizes.

There is only one size gauge as for sprockets. There is no problem if you are running a rim if you have a spur and it is so badly worn down that the gauge has an effect on the chain then throw it away!
