I have seen square filed chains mentioned several times. Is there a good diagram of a tooth? Do these chains cut faster? Do they hold an edge longer? Are they difficult to sharpen? I cut a fair amount of dead hardwood with a Dolmar 7900, would there be an advantage to switching to to square from round? thanks.

Moe, do a search on square filed chain, there is lots of stuff here on it that will help bring you up to speed. It takes special grinders or hand files and is definitely more difficult. Faster cutting? yes.
