Want to Buy square grind and tools

3/8 .058 full chisel square grind loops . Or a place to buy with out getting raped .

can someone tell me why you can't square grind chain with a regular grinder like a stihl usg ???
looks to me like you could have a steel wheel profiled, then cbn coated..
maybe i'm missing something ??

I have been able to get the top plate looking like square ,side plate still comes out round though on the usg ,My silvey the cutter goes strait into the wheel

The usg had an attachment to do square at one time.

Simple answer is 'you can't'. Angles are wrong. If you could, everyone would already be doing it.

Several threads on getting 'almost' square-ground-like cutters, but people still shell out the $$$ for the real grinders.

Also have been threads on ordering custom CBN wheels for square ground, but I don't think that you can get/maintain that critical corner point with one.

i would think a cbn wheel would hold it's profile much better/longer than a regular abrasive wheel..... no ??
i know the chainsaw forum is where this belongs, but anyway...

CBN holds a round or flat profile well. Not sure that it can hold a razor sharp corner. Square grinders use frequent wheel dressings for this.
